How we compare QR code generators
We write down exactly what each vendor's own pages say, with a link and a date, and point out where those pages disagree. Rankings are our editorial picks, made from those facts.
Our picks
Rankings are opinions. The facts under them are not, and every one links to the page it came from so you can check it in a minute without trusting us.
What we rank on
Rankings are editorial picks made on six criteria. Each page shows, in its columns, the criteria that matter for its readers: price and inclusions for small teams, integrations and compliance for businesses, single sign-on and roles for enterprise, certifications for security. A tool that states more of these on its own pages, at a lower price, generally ranks higher; the final order is our judgement.
| Criterion | What we check |
|---|---|
| Cheapest paid plan and what it includes | Its price billed monthly and yearly, and whether bulk creation and scan export are included |
| Analytics | Location detail, device data, exports, Google Analytics, length of history |
| Integrations and API | Google Analytics, Zapier, CRM and other integrations, API availability and stated quota, and the plan each sits on |
| Security and compliance claims | Two-factor login, single sign-on, user roles, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and GDPR claims, and for regulated industries HIPAA and whether a business associate agreement is offered, with the plan each sits on |
| Scale | Codes, users and organizations per plan; batch sizes |
| Business cards | Apple and Google Wallet, templates and locked templates, CRM sync, team admin, price per seat, compliance claims |
We do not rank on free-plan size, ads on free codes, NFC hardware or cancellation behaviour. Where a vendor states those, the fact appears in its row; they do not move the ranking.
Where the facts come from
- The vendor's own pricing page, help center, terms and trust or security page, read signed out from a US location.
- Every fact is linked and dated. A dated screenshot of every pricing page we quote is on the evidence page. When we can't find something, we say "not stated" instead of guessing.
- When a vendor's pages contradict each other, we note it.
- Automated tests (decoding each free static code, finding each vendor's redirect domain, and reading security headers on each vendor site) are dated and repeatable.
How our dates work
Each page shows two dates, and they mean different things.
- Facts checked: the month our automated checker last confirmed that the source pages still state what we quote. The checker covers every vendor whose pages it can read by script; Canva and Adobe Express are not covered by the automated price checker and were read by hand on Oct 11, 2026. It fetches each linked page and looks for the exact price, plan name or limit we cite. If anything has changed, the date does not move and the affected row is marked for re-check until an editor fixes it.
- Page updated: the day this page was last published.
Currently showing: facts checked October 2026, page updated Oct 12, 2026.
What is covered, and what is not
This edition covers the tools in our rankings and pricing index. Tools not covered in this edition: Bitly, QR Code Generator PRO (qr-code-generator.com), QRCode Monkey. Not being listed is not a judgement on a product. We add tools as we complete their fact checks.
What we don't do
- Every outbound link is tagged nofollow.
- No star-rating markup.
- We can't audit a security certificate. A tick means the vendor's own page states it.
Corrections
Vendors and readers can send a correction. Every change is dated in the change log and on the page it affects.
